About Stuart Court
Location
Stuart Court is situated on Recorder Road, along with other developments designed for older people. It is adjacent to the Cathedral Close and enjoys easy access to the bank of the River Wensum with delightful walks along the riverside. It is also very close to the Railway Station and buses stop nearby on Recorder Road or Prince of Wales Road.
The accommodation
Stuart Court was built in 1915 and consists of 14 bedsits, three one-bedroom flats and five two-bedroom flats. Two bedroom flats are generally reserved for couples who request them, but may in certain circumstances be offered to individuals at the Society’s discretion. The building is set in lovely gardens which were renovated in 2015 as part of the centenary celebrations for Stuart Court.
Support facilities
The Society’s Scheme Managers provide a visiting support service to tenants that request a visit. Each flat is connected to the call system by means of pull cords in each of the main rooms. Pendants are available for those wishing for a higher degree of reassurance. The call system is monitored 24/7, and a mobile response is provided when necessary.
Medical facilities
The nearest health centre is about a mile away, but there are a few in the area to choose from. There is also an NHS 'walk-in' centre in Rouen Road, half a mile away. Dental facilities are available nearby and the nearest pharmacy is situated in the Morrisons store on nearby Riverside, or in the city centre. Most pharmacies provide a 'collection and delivery' service for repeat prescriptions.
Shops, restaurants
All facilities are available in the immediate area and the amenities of Castle Mall Shopping Centre are within a half mile walk. A Morrison's Supermarket, along with a multitude of shops, restaurants and cafes are available close by on Riverside near the station, together with a large cinema complex. The nearby Cathedral Refectory is a lovely place to eat or have a snack, and there are also many restaurants in Tombland within easy walking distance.
Churches
Norwich Cathedral is the nearest Church of England places of worship; all religious faiths are catered for within the city.
Facilities within the site
There is a laundry room containing good quality commercial washing and drying appliances. There are no parking facilities available but time restricted and resident permit parking is available in adjacent streets.
