Location
Sangster House is situated very close to Leander Court where both schemes share a social room. It is also very close to the centre of the popular Norwich suburb of Eaton, with its shopping and community facilities. There are good bus links to the city centre and the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital, as well as easy access to walking routes along the River Yare valley, Cringleford and the University of East Anglia.
The accommodation
Completed in 2022, Sangster House consists of 4 one-bedroom flats and 4 one-bedroom bungalows. The 4 flats are located in the original house built in 1930. Original features remain such as the staircase and wood paneling.
Support facilities
Sangster House is classified as sheltered housing. The Society’s Scheme Managers provide a visiting support service to tenants that request a visit. Each flat is connected to the call system by means of pull cords, as well as a pendant alarm (additional pendants are available, at cost). The call system is monitored 24/7, and a mobile response is provided when necessary.
Medical facilities
The nearest doctors’ surgery is less than a mile away in Cringleford. There is a good bus service to the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital from Eaton centre. Dentists are available locally. There is a Boots pharmacy situated within the Waitrose supermarket in Eaton, while most pharmacies provide a 'collection and delivery' service for repeat prescriptions.
Shops, restaurants
Just a few steps away is Eaton village centre, where you will find a Waitrose supermarket, pharmacy, Post Office, opticians and other shops, two pubs, takeaways and cafes. There is a good bus service to Norwich city centre with its wide variety of retail and leisure facilities.
Churches
The nearest Church of England places of worship is St Andrew’s Church, situated just behind Waitrose, a short walk from Sangster House. All religious faiths are catered for within the city.
Facilities within the site
The scheme has the benefit of a social room for the use of all the tenants and a variety of events are organised for and by the tenants. All tenants can enjoy the well-maintained gardens, an area for storing scooters and bikes is available. There is a limited number of off-street car parking spaces which are available on a first come, first served basis.
