About Old School Court
Location
Old School Court is located within the Bracondale conservation area at the top of Carrow Hill and is roughly a half mile from the city centre. This is an attractive residential area, and there are lovely views to the East of the site over the Wensum valley. The Administrative Office of the Society is located at this site.
The accommodation
Six spacious one-bedroom flats are located in a converted Georgian school house. Alongside are 16 modern one-bedroom flats and five one-bedroom terraced bungalows, set in professionally landscaped gardens.
Support facilities
The Society’s Scheme Managers provide a visiting support service to tenants that request a visit. Each flat is connected to the call system by means of pull cords in each of the main rooms. Pendants are available for those wishing for a higher degree of reassurance. The call system is monitored 24/7, and a mobile response is provided when necessary.
Medical facilities
The nearest health centre is approximately half a mile away. The nearest hospital is about three miles with easy access by bus from all parts of the city. Dentists are available locally. Most pharmacies provide a 'collection and delivery' service for repeat prescriptions.
Shops, restaurants
There is a good selection of local shops, pubs, cafes and small restaurants within a short walk, and a Post Office is situated in a nearby parade of shops. A large Sainsbury’s supermarket and a John Lewis department store are less than half a mile away. Frequent buses travel to the city centre.
Churches
All religious faiths are catered for within the city.
Facilities within the site
There is a laundry room with good quality domestic washing and drying machines. Old School Court has lovely gardens around the flats and bungalows for the enjoyment of all tenants and visitors. There is some off-street parking available to all tenants and visitors but this is on a first come, first served basis. Time restricted and resident permit parking is available in adjacent side streets.
